ÿþThese instructions will give you big emoticons in Windows Live Messenger, like on http://random.menthix.net/files/bigemo/big-emoticons-in-live-messenger.png. In my screenshot I use Messenger Plus! with a skin, but this works without any add-on. Tested on Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.206) only. Instructions: * Open this text file in an Unicode compatible editor, Notepad will do. This step is important, otherwise it will not work. * Copy any of the lines below to your Messenger display name, or personal message. * That's all ;). Your contacts should see the big emoticons in their contact list. If you copied it to your personal message you should see it in big format on the top of your own contact list too, if it's in your display name it won't show big on your own side. NOTE: While this may be funny, you will annoy people on your list quick. I'm not responsible for your friends removing/blocking you because you annoyed them by making their list cluttered with huge emoticons. I hope Microsoft will respond to this and release a new version which gets rid of this bug/feature. Copy any of these lines (or create your own): á :o N á :o N<-- Big | Small --> :D ·#[c=0][a=0]á :P N [/a][/c] Using MsgPlus! to hide the control characters http://example.com/ á (H) N á :o:p:D:(:):s N For those wondering how this works: The characters á (looking either like a square or something like <-> depending on what you are viewing it with) and N (looking like a dot) are not normal characters like the ones you type. These are special characters which only can be typed with key combinations or just simply by copy/pasting them (like you do in this case). These characters can be used to give instructions to software, in this case it makes emoticons bigger. Whether this is a bug, or MS intentionally added this at some point without telling anyone nobody knows. But it is annoying for sure, so let's hope Microsoft treats it as a bug and removes it soon. I don't take any credit for discovering this, multiple people on my contact list already had it when I first tried by just copying their personal messages.
